How to score a weekend cricket match
Most weekend games fail on organisation, not talent. This guide walks through a calm scoring flow in CricFuego so the first ball is not delayed by account setup arguments.
1. Create or join the group before you leave home
Open CricFuego and sign in. If your friends already have a group, ask for the invite code and join. Otherwise create a group with a clear name (for example “Sunday Turf” or your company team name). Share the invite code in the same chat you use for pitch bookings.
Completing this step early means anyone who arrives late can still open the live score without standing over the scorer’s shoulder.
2. Decide: Just Score or Play & Track
If you only need team totals and a result for WhatsApp, use Just Score. Enter both team names, set overs, and start. If you want batting and bowling records for individuals across the season, use Play & Track and make sure the squad list is ready. See our mode comparison if you are unsure.
3. Nominate one primary scorer
Pick one person with a charged phone and decent reception. Others can follow the live board from the same group. Handing the phone around mid-over creates mistakes; following live is safer than sharing the scorer account.
4. Confirm the match basics at the toss
- Overs per side
- Team names (or which squad players are on each side)
- Who bats first
- Whether extras and wickets should be recorded carefully (always yes for Play & Track)
5. Score every over without multitasking
Enter each delivery as it happens. If you miss a ball, correct it immediately rather than reconstructing the over at the drinks break. For Play & Track, check that the right batter and bowler are selected before the first ball of each over.
6. Finish the match and check history
When the last wicket falls or overs are complete, finish the match in the app so the result is saved. Open Match History from the group to confirm the scorecard looks right. If something is wrong, fix it while everyone still remembers the game — not three days later from memory.
7. After the game
